Practice Areas
Gregg has spent his nearly 30 years of legal practice and experience split between complex civil litigation and serving as a legal advisor and judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps. He currently handles cases involving marine casualties and personal injury, collisions, Limitation of Liability Act, fisheries regulations, Longshore and Harbor Worker's Compensation Act, cargo claims, and design professional liability and construction, premises, products and vehicle liability. He also represents property owners in commercial litigation, including landlord/tenant leasing disputes.
Experience
In both his civilian and military practices, Gregg has gained vast experience in admiralty and maritime matters. In addition to being a Proctor in Admiralty handling all manner of maritime cases, he is also a retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps Reserve after 32 years of service, (both active duty and reserve). As a senior Marine judge advocate, Gregg served at the highest levels of U.S. service and joint commands across the U.S. and the globe, including as Deputy Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (Pentagon, Washington D.C.), where he advised our most senior leaders in the Department of Defense on matters of domestic and international maritime operations. His other assignments have included: Deputy Legal Advisor to U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command; Associate Legal Counsel, DoD Office of General Counsel for International Affairs, and Senior Marine Operational Law Advisor to the Commander, U.S. Northern Command, where he worked closely with Coast Guard legal teams on maritime issues connected to homeland security and disaster relief operations. He is a graduate of the Naval Executive Level Maritime Operations Course of Study, and attended the U.S. Air Force Air War College. Gregg also served and tried numerous cases under the Special Assistant Attorney General as part of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (Department of Corrections) involving the civil commitment of sexually dangerous persons.
Gregg is also an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School where he offers a course on the Law of War/Law of Armed Conflict.
