Ken practices in all areas of maritime law managing many aspects of maritime litigation,  from marine contracts and general insurance defense including marine casualties, to claims for personal injury, Jones Act, and unseaworthiness. Ken is uniquely experienced and has a keen interest in harbor management where federal, state, and local laws intersect, as well as the interrelations of public and private interests on the waterways.  He advises municipalities and port authorities on harbor management practices and maritime legal matters. Ken artfully navigates complex yacht purchase and sales transactions and the often complex permitting of a Chapter 91 residential and commercial structures.

Ken grew up sailing the coastlines of Massachusetts from Salem to Nantucket developing a passion that has taken him to the south pacific with stops in the Caribbean, Colombia, Panama, and the Galapagos Islands.  Ken holds a 100-ton Master License issued by the United States Coast Guard and has sailed well over five thousand miles. Ken also serves as Harbor Master, Shellfish Constable, and Custodian of the Islands for the Town of Hingham.  He is a graduate of the Plymouth Police Academy and has gained significant experience in municipal and waterways management.  Ken’s knowledge and experience as Harbor Master extend well beyond harbor management and include maritime policing, criminal procedure, and homeland security.
